Q: How do we order our tee shirt?

A: The 2016 District Finals tee shirt is a wonderful way to reward your quizzers for a job well done this year.  Quizzers love to look back at their shirts years later and remember each District Finals they quizzed at!

The back of the shirt will list the names of all teams who have registered for District Finals by March 13.  This year's theme is "Young Lions of Judah" and the shirt will reflect that theme. Click the picture for a larger view.

Q: What about childcare?

A: In order to be fair to all teams, no child under quizzing age may be in quiz rooms. We will not provide childcare this year, so we encourage families to leave their young children home with a grandparent, a friend, or sitter.

Q: What motels are nearby?

A:  There are many motels near SAGU.  Here is a map of Waxahachie motels.  Scroll around to find more!

Q: What restaurants are nearby?

A:  There are many restaurants near SAGU.  Most are located along US 77.  Use this map to find a restaurant for your group.  Remember that restaurants are very busy on Friday night, so allow plenty of time for your group to eat before check-in.

Q: Please explain the tournament format.

A: Teams in each division will play a complete round robin within their own division. Ties will be broken as determined by head-to-head competition.

The Advanced Level will play a complete Round Robin. Intermediate and Beginner may be seeded into divisions, depending on the number of teams we have participating.

The winner of the Advanced division will be considered the North Texas District's 2015-2016 champion and will be qualified to compete at the National JBQ Festival in June. That same team and the advanced-level teams in 2nd through 7th places will be qualified to compete at the South Central Region's JBQ Finals in April.  Only four North Texas teams may compete at National Finals.

Q: What is the schedule for the tournament?

A: Each division follows its own schedule for the weekend.  Advanced and Intermediate levels will check in and begin quizzing Friday evening, and Beginner level teams will check in and begin quizzing Saturday morning.  Here is a TENTATIVE schedule for the weekend (revised March 22).

  • Beginners are NOT quizzing on Friday night, however, we will have an activity for them in the Schaeffer auditorium if they need to be on campus while the older quizzers are quizzing.
  • Intermediates are quizzing 3 rounds on Friday night.
  • Advanced are quizzing 2 rounds on Friday night.
  • Master Seal Preliminaries are Friday night.

Q: Will there be a Bible Master competition?

A: Yes!  Our 14th annual Bible Master competition is open to any quizzer who has earned his or her Bible Master seal.  The preliminary round(s) will take place after team check-in on Friday.  The top Bible Masters from the preliminary round will play the championship round in the sanctuary in front of the entire North Texas group.  Will you be the winner of the coveted 2016 Bible Master trophy? Sign up for the competition during team check-in.  Here are the official rules.

Q: Will there be a 10-Point Cup competition?

A:  Yes!  The quizzers who answered the most 10-point questions during the weekend's competition will be able to compete for the 10-Point Cup before our awards ceremony.  Quizzers who qualify for the competition will be notified after regular quiz rounds end.  Here are the official rules.
