2011 District Finals Scores

It was another thrilling championship meet in North Texas as the top Junior Bible Quiz teams from around the North Texas District came together at Trinity Church in Cedar Hill for fun, fellowship, and lots of GREAT quizzing on March 25 & 26, 2011.  As always, the meet came down to the wire to see who would be crowned North Texas District Champions for 2011.

This year saw eighteen advanced teams competing for the title, and when the dust finally settled the Word Warriors from Grace Community Church in Flower Mound, Texas had become our new District Champions, earning the right to compete at National Finals in June.  Congratulations, Word Warriors! Here's a photo of the Word Warriors.

Moving on to Regional Finals along with the Word Warriors will be: E=MC3 (Mt. Creek Community Church in Dallas), Faithful Falcons (Glad Tidings Church in Austin), Tribulation Force (Oaks Fellowship in Red Oak), and Quadruple Threat (Trinity Church in Cedar Hill).  All of these teams will be competing for a chance to move on to National Finals. Here's a photo of the top five Advanced teams.

Joel James from the Faithful Falcons was our top individual quizzer for the weekend, averaging an amazing 130 points per round!  Great job, Joel! Here's a photo of Joel and a photo of the top five Advanced quizzers.

Isaac Grey from Mt. Creek Community's E=MC3 team won the Master Seal Cup at our 9th annual Bible Master tournament.  Way to go, Isaac!  Here's a photo of Isaac and the Bible Master finalists.

The 2011 Coach of the Year trophy was presented to Renee Rawlings of Grace Community Church in Flower Mound.  A shining example of God's love, Renee goes to great lengths to help her quizzers grow, and she shares all her JBQ knowledge with anyone who needs help. She encourages other teams when they are struggling, and congratulates them when they are doing well.  We can all learn a lot from Renee!  Here's a photo of Coach Renee.

The Details

Eighteen Advanced and fourteen Intermediate teams played a complete round within their respective divisions over the course of two days.  Final rankings were based on head-to-head competition between the teams.

The top five teams North Texas District teams in the Advanced Division have earned the right to compete at the South Central Regional Finals on April 29-30, 2011 at Lakeshore Church in Rockwall, TX.  The top five teams from that tournament will advance to National Finals in June.

We also had a large 10-point division for our youngest North Texas competitors.  The best of our youngest quizzers gathered for some thrilling rounds of their own.  Check out the Japan, South Korea, Philippines, and Thailand scores, below.  And here is a photo of the top 10-point quizzers.
