2019 Lone Star Invitational

January 26-27, 2018
The Oaks Fellowship
Red Oak, Texas

Howdy, pardner!

We had a rootin' tootin' Texas-style wrasslin' at this year's Lone Star JBQ Invitational!  Ten Junior Bible Quiz teams from Texas and Oklahoma gathered in the corrall for a tough competition. When the dust settled, the 2018 National Champions - The Chosen Ones from Braeswood Assembly of God (Houston) - took the Lone Star trophy with a 15/3 record.  This is the third year in a row The Chosen Ones have come in first place at the Lone Star.  What an amazing feat!  Well done, Braeswood!

The First Assembly of God in Humble, Texas took second place with their 14/4 record, edging out United For Christ from The Bridge Assembly of God in Mustang, Oklahoma.  Congratulations, teams!

Our top individual was Christian Alapati from United for Christ.  He scored 1830 points with 10 quizouts, narrowly edging out Mabry Haley from Spurs Black (First Assembly of God in San Antonio) who scored 1810 points with 7 quizouts. Coming in third was Naomi Shtyrkalo from Humble, who scored 1725 points and had quizouts for third place.  Well done, quizzers!

We've rustled up the complete scores from the entire weekend here - check them out!

All these teams are blazing a trail to their areas championships later this winter, and we're sure to see more than a couple of these teams at this year's National JBQ Festival in June.  Yee haw!

Congratuations to every quizzer, coach, official, and parent!  Y'all are among the best in the JBQ world today.  A tip of the 10-gallon hat to all!
